Training for PGRTs
An introductory training session to the role of Postgraduate Research Tutor is available through the Staff and Departmental Development Unit (SDDU) – for more information about booking onto this course, please click here.
PGRTs can also keep up to date with the latest developments in research degree programmes at Leeds through attending the Postgraduate Research Tutors’ Forum.
Internal Examiner Training
The University provides training for the internal examiners of research degrees to help them ensure the quality of research degree examinations. Like the supervisors’ training, the Graduate Board requires all internal examiners to undertake training before they act in the role – this applies to both those new to the role and those who are experienced in the role but new to Leeds. Internal examiner training only remains current for 5 years; acting as internal examiner is deemed to refresh the training.

New PGR Supervisor Training
There are also mandatory training courses available for new research student supervisors which are run by the Staff and Departmental Development Unit – please go to the Supervisors menu on the Graduate School website for more information.
